It Happened Last Night

Meet Dr. Susan Okie, the consumer of the 1000th Brooks Tavern Oyster Fritter!! Dr. Okie, who is from Bethesda, was here with members of the Washington College Biology Department last night, coming in to town as a guest lecturer. I took a couple pictures of her actually eating the historic fritter, but the flash didn't work and hence the attempt failed. No word on if she liked it...

It was certainly an exciting evening, as the countdown continued into the single digits. We started out with 14 to go. A six top ordered 4; the next table 2, then another and another. Finally we're down to the winning fritter - a table of 3 might possibly be it...no, they don't order a fritter. Finally the WC party orders...3 fritters!! We have a winner!!

Do you get the feeling that there's not a whole lot of excitement in Kent County sometimes?

  1. Yaaaay...congrats, you guys. Not only do you provide great food, great atmosphere, great service, you have, indeed, provided great excitement these past few weeks!

D'you think it would be a good idea to have a countdown for crabsteaks, when it's their time? I'll be very happy to help that countdown.

Thanks for all you do. Connie G.
