Going for the Gold(en)

Michael Phelps is having his day in Towson tomorrow, with a "Parade of Gold", which I think is fitting, given his record-making status at the recent Summer Olympics. Here at Brooks Tavern (and I bet you are right now just wondering how the heck is she going to link MP with BT...) we are going for our own "gold" thing, by turning in all of our paper one dollar bills for the gold(en) presidential dollar coins. I am a solid believer in coinage rather than paper for our ones and we are going to do our best to get some into circulation. I did read recently that not only is the penny, with it's copper layer, worth much more than One Cent, it also takes 7.7 cents to mint the current nickel!! What's that all about? That being said, we are on the side of the Dollar Coin, controversial as it may be, and that is what you will be receiving more often in your change when you spend cash at Brooks Tavern. So there. BTW, the image below is a "United States Mint Image", direct from their Web Page.

Now, if only I could get some Food topic to link to this Gold topic...
