Susanna Foo is Closed

Photo from SF website

I recommended the great Philadelphia restaurant, Susanna Foo, to some guests the other night who were headed to the City of Brotherly Love, only to hear the very sad news that the doors were locked and an auction scheduled. I can't remember what/who introduced us to this fabulously ornate and upscale Chinese/French establishment, but we have spent many luxurious meals there. Somewhere I have a photo of Kevin and I post dinner, with Kevin's late brother John and our friend Andy, late of Andy's, in the foyer, grinning happily. I'll post it when I find it. Meanwhile, more power to Susanna at age 65 to say, okay, I'm finished, let life outside the restaurant begin. I will never forget, during one of our first meals there and during the early days of our stint at the Ironstone Cafe, where we were working our buns off 15 and 16 hours a day, seeing this iconic Chef wheeling a round table top thought the packed dining room. Hands on was okay with her and it's been okay with us too. Cheers Susanna!

  1. Susanna Foo's was one of our favorite Philly restaurants too. Jan had my surprise 70 birthday party there, and it was great, as usual. I understand she is opening a place on the mainline.
