I know am way out of the loop, but I had no idea heat sensitive label technology was being used on beer cans, so the label on one of our more recent wine additions took me by surprise. As some of you know, keeping our red wine at the proper "room temperature" is very difficult, especially in the warmer months. I have been in search of a small wine refrigerator, but it is not easy (or inexpensive) to find one that will go as high as 65 degrees... This morning, while updating the wine list, I read the "smart label" on the new Spanish tempranillo from Volteo we are carrying: when the wine is at an acceptable drinking temperature, a blue line appears around the figure above the name, along with the statement "Drinking Temperature OK". No blue line, too warm. Man, what the heck will they think of next?

Hi Barbara! I happened to flip through April's Wine Enthusiast shortly after reading this blog. I came across an article about scratch & sniff labels on bottles. Here is the company: http://www.firstflavor.com/ - so THAT is what they will think of next!!
