- Where'd you get those horns? Over the doorway to Table 10, commonly known as the Bin Room, although I believe some of our customers have other names for it, hang a pair of Texas Longhorns. While we were traveling through Texas on our WeGo trip of 2005, we noticed that every bar worth going to in that part of the world sported the "longest" pair of horns. We knew we had to have some of our own, and luckily, in San Angelo, we came across a guy selling them out of his van in an empty parking lot. We bought two, one large for BT and one small for our own private bar.
They may not be the longest in Texas, but they are holding their own here in Chestertown!
- And how about that rug hanging over the back wall? Contrary to popular belief, that is not an Indian rug from New Mexico. That is Maryland woven, purchased at the very popular and worth going to Sheep and Wool Festival, held each year at the Howard County Fairgrounds. This year's event takes place the first weekend in May, and is worth the drive, especially if you like to eat lamb.
- Who did that large painting of the Chester River, and where have I seen it before? That beautiful piece of work is a mural project that we commissioned Marcy Dunn Ramsey to do for us at the Kennedyville Inn. It hung in the bar dining room there, until we moved it to BT in July of 2007. It does not depict any one particular river; I tell admirers that it is any river you want it to be.
- How was your vacation? Since many of our customers remain confused about when we take our vacation - and it does seems to vary year to year - we get this question long after vacation has become a far distant memory. However, for those who ask, it was great! And if they pursue the matter, they get all the boring details!
- How is your mother? I haven't seen her in a long time. Mom is fine; she's the same as she ever was except she no longer does her own driving, which is a good thing for all of us. Look up her Facebook page and give her a big shout out!
- Who is the artist behind those four season prints? That would be Giuseppe Arcimboldo, a sixteenth century Italian artist. The prints came from some on-line poster store; the framing from the Finishing Touch here in Chestertown increased their value significantly! Below are images of his "Earth" and "Water".
And finally:
- Does Kevin cook at home? Yes. He does.
Mom and I will see you for lunch on Saturday! So tell her fans to watch out!
ReplyDeleteAnd I will see you, along with brother Hugh, at Taste of the Town on Sunday!
