The Godwins gave me a pedometer to use, after many nights of watching me do the rounds in the BT dining room. Sometimes I recognize that I do take a lot of steps during service - my legs tell me. The goal for weight loss and fitness is 10,000 steps per day. That's around 5 miles. The first day I wore it, a Saturday, I logged in 18,687 steps, at 24" per step during the two services. This number doesn't include any other steps I might take during a typical work day, like from the office to the walk-in to the oven to the reach-in and back to the office (with food, hopefully). Plus I walk 5 or 6 days a week for exercise (!), about 3 or 4 miles each time. Wow, that's a lot of steps. Over the course of the week, I seemed to average about 16,000 steps a day, during service.
So how come I can't lose this measly five pounds I've been trying to lose for 15 years?
And now I have a sore pinkie toe - slammed last night by a falling bottle of wine in the store room. Hey, at least the wine bottle didn't break! And it's not going to slow me down, although my steps may be a little shorter for a couple of days...
Life at Brooks Tavern, always something going on. Some of it interesting, some of it not so much...
