Merry Christmas to All!

The long awaited Christmas "vacation" begins tomorrow, on Christmas Eve, and everyone at BT is looking forward to their special holiday weekend.  We will shut the doors after dinner service tonight and re-open on Tuesday the 28th, four days in which to make merry and celebrate the season.

It's all about tradition, isn't it?  Christmas Eve will find us at my brother's home, diving into a bubbling pot of cheese fondue, drinking champagne and reminiscing about Christmases past.  On Christmas morning Kevin will make Eggs Benedict, which we will enjoy with The Mom, a ritual meal that is written in stone.  Our Christmas Dinner this year, which will involve more Champagne of course, is going to include cherrystone clams on the half-shell, some form of St. Brigid's Farm beef, pearl onions (we may have scored the last bag at the Super Fresh!), and some of my soon-to-be traditional refrigerator dinner rolls.  If there is any pecan pie left over from today - dessert!  If not - chocolate!  Or maybe both!  After all, it is Christmas!  We'll have the Alastair Sims version of the "The Christmas Carol" on the DVD player and Amahl and the Night Visitors playing in the background.  If it snows, so be it.  The more seasonal, the better!

Everyone here at Brooks Tavern wishes everyone out there a wonderful weekend full of tradition and peace, with family and friends.  And don't forget to make time for "Christmas Comes But Once a Year"!  It that doesn't make you cheery and fuzzy inside, nothing will!

 Merry Christmas!
