The Governor at BT

Governor Martin O'Malley had dinner at Brooks Tavern with some friends last night, and I asked him to stop in the kitchen so I could take his picture with Kevin.  (Kevin was telling some story while I was fiddling with the camera, hence his pursed mouth.  The Gov is used to having his picture taken, so he is always camera ready...)  The party sat on Table 21, which is that very private table by the bar, requested by his friends, and perfect for the occasion.  Except for Twinky Smith and Nancy Jane Reed, I don't think anyone else realized he was there, even while his security detail cased the joint.  Twinky and Nancy always sit on 21 when they come in, so they were a little put off at first by it being held for the Governor,  but they were very gracious about it.

So what did he eat?  Kevin sent out a little amuse of some Marvesta shrimp, which Governor O'Malley had not had before, and since they are a Maryland product it was fun to introduce them to him.  For his dinner he ate the 7-hour lamb, and seemed to enjoy that as well.  Kilby Cream ice cream for dessert kept to the local theme.  We got a heads up that he was coming, but he sure didn't have the entourage we remember from the last time a governor visited us.  He explained it as keeping costs down.  I figure, well, it is Chestertown.

  1. Did he say where he had been all day? He was at Ocean Downs at a ribbon cutting ceremony.
