X-ray of her knee on Monday revealed that the aparatus in place after her ACL surgery several years ago had come apart (!) and the screw was sort of "free" within her knee. Ouch. The vet gave her a shot of pain killer and sent her home to return the next day for surgery to remove the aparatus and repair any damage. She came back to her office rehab yesterday afternoon a little perkier, but as you can see from this morning's photo, she is not too very happy about that e-collar. Now she's under doctor's orders for no jumping, running or generally having fun for six weeks, so the knee can heal. She's headed for a serious issue with arthritis in the knee, which aspirin will help but nothing will cure.
Tell me this - how the heck are we going to keep Ruby down when she is used to all the action she wants? Crate comes to mind...as does drugs...
But at least she is pain-free now and on the road to recovery, albeit restrained from all doggie activity.
Thanks for asking! She's loving the attention, I know that!
