This email that fell into our in-box this morning is a classic example of one of the many scams that swirl around restaurants:
Hello ,
We are interested in purchasing
:- 24 bottles of Dom Perignon Champagne
:- 12 bottles of Louis Roederer Cristal Champagne
:- 6 bottles of Armand De Brignac (Ace of Spades) Brut
Do confirm how soon you can have them ready as we need them for an event on July 10th . I'll wait to read from you with the total cost for the bottles . Do you accept MasterCard or Visa ? . Our Pickup men will come for the cases as soon as the Credit card goes through .
Regards,
Kencen Dior

Usually I don't even open these things - but the subject line "wine order" won me over. Some times it will be a request for a large carry-out order, sometimes a reservation for a big, always important group coming for multiple nights in a row and requesting a certain menu, always paying up front with a credit card. Or at least a credit card number.
I can't imagine who falls for these things, but it must really hurt.
