Eating at the Kitchen Table

We finally got some takers for our "Kitchen Table" dining scene. Michael and Danielle Hanscom, our friends from the Brampton Inn, came in last night and asked to be seated in the "hot seat". What fun it was to have them there! At least fun for me! Danielle is a wonderful cook and does it in her own professional kitchen at the Brampton, but she said it was nothing like watching Kevin and Holly do their thing. I think Kevin was a little on guard at first, having company in the kitchen like that, and I know Holly was sort of freaked out - she couldn't cuss!! But after a few minutes they both completely forgot that there were observers and just went about their usual business of running the line and getting the food out. We were short a cook last night and had a new guy training, so things were a little more hectic even than usual. I should have taken a picture from the Hanscom's vantage point I suppose; seeing the action and hearing the blaring of orders coming in and going out is pretty wild at times, when you see it from that side of the line.

We look forward to more Kitchen Diners - but of course, it has to be limited to guests who can stand the heat of the kitchen, both temperature and temperament. There are times - like a really busy Saturday night - that Kevin really wouldn't want visitors at the Table anyway. But still, for the right people, it could be a whole new experience in Dining.
