The photo above shows the finished pear chips awaiting their final bath in a cold Pear Cosmo. The PC has to be one of the most popular drinks we've ever come up with, right up there with the Kennedyville Inn's Flirtini (which we still get requests for, but the recipe has escaped my brain).
Speaking of the Past, many of you have asked about the happenings at the Kennedyville Inn building. For the most part, we know as much as you do - it has been leased to a young couple who are going to be opening a restaurant there, called "Ephraim's Table", I believe. That's about all we know. Googling brings us to the fact that Ephraim, whose name means "double fruitfulness", was biblically the younger son of Joseph. That could be the purpose for choosing such a name for your restaurant, eh, being fruitful? As their Landlords we hope to get prime seating at the bar, but as far as having anything else to do with their business, we only know what we read in the paper (and I'm not sure what that means, in the liquor license application - "similar cuisine to the KI" - does that just translate to "good food"? And how do they know what the cuisine was at the KI? It's been shuttered for over two years, which serves to remind me that it's been almost five years (FIVE??) since Kevin and I were there. No wonder I can't remember the Flirtini recipe!) Aside from collection of the rent, we have not been involved in any other way, and frankly, I doubt they would want us to be. We wish them the best of luck of course, and look forward to stopping in on our way home from work sometime in the near future.
