The VD Menu and Report

Two quick pics of the two main courses from the Valentine's Day menu for two. The top photo is our "Heart Beet Salad", with that sensual fennel included as an ingredient, and the bottom is the butter poached shrimp with seared tuna and the heart shaped risotto. Kevin went all out with the hearts, didn't he?

The Valentine/Presidents weekend brought us some nice extra business - a little boost on Thursday night, a good Friday lunch, busier than usual (as of lately anyway) Friday night and an almost-like-a-Saturday-during-a-normal-summer Saturday night. I was afraid our limited reservation policy would scare diners away - we had about a million calls during the latter end of the week, including those calling for reservations at 5PM on Saturday - but it didn't seem to. They came, they waited, they ate well. And really, the wait was never too bad, 45 minutes tops. No one left except for a 7:30 reservation of 6, who showed up an hour fifteen early with only five people, and when told it would still be an hour before their table would be ready, said okay, left to go get a drink somewhere and then called (thank goodness) to say they wouldn't be returning. I imagine they got immediate seating elsewhere, and I was glad they called to keep us in the loop. Other than that, we pretty much sat and fed all comers. It was somewhat hectic but it went pretty smoothly, front and back. And the Menu was terrific - starting with that oyster shooter and ending with the mocha rum sundae and two spoons.

Nothing like a good shot in the arm in the middle of February! Thanks!
