What's Going On Now

A few quick looks at what's coming out of the kitchen right now:

Danae plates up the new MahiWich - a beer battered mahi sandwich, in memory of the ones they serve at John's Drive Inn in Kitty Hawk on the Outer Banks. John's is a seasonal place, so we were thrilled this spring to find it open and just down the road from our rental house - we ate there three times!
I'm not going to say whose is better...

...but I know no one beats our strawberry shortcake!

And for tonight's meat special -
beef cheeks from St.Brigid's Best Beef.
They marinated overnight and this is them
coming out of the oven after several hours of braising.
I can't wait to try them, so succulent and, well, beefy!
