Free the Grapes

So, while we are all preparing for another snow day stuck at home, think about how nice it would be to have a case of some esoteric California wine to show up on your door step - if, in fact that UPS truck can make it to your front door (not possible, in our case) - just as the snow starts to fall and the romantic holiday weekend approaches. Well, it has been brought to my attention that it might or more likely might not happen this legislative session. The Baltimore Sun reports that it looks dead out of committee; Maryland for Better Wine and Beer Laws reports a number of commentaries seeing the same future for the bill. You gotta love the fact that the woman in charge of making the decision as to whether or not the bill comes out of committee - who expresses her concern that an underage drinker will open that case of 2006 California Cabernet and drink themselves silly down in the rec room - this woman's husband is a member of the liquor industry which is fighting the bill, as a Liquor Inspector...funny ha ha. What is wrong with people?
