Burger-off

Burger Mania is returning to Unity Nursery's ChurchHill branch this Sunday, and Kevin will again be helping man the grills.  Washington College's third annual burger-off always seems to be on the coldest Sunday in January.  Sponsored by the Center for the Environment & Society, the event is a wintertime showcase of local food, drink and music.  It's always a really good time.  It's also sold out.

Among the burgers being sampled will be Kennedyville's own St. Brigid's Farm, the same folks who raise the beef we use in our BT burgers, to much acclaim.  This morning co-owner Robert Fry came into our kitchen to grind his beef for the event.  Of course I had to document.  Below are a few pictures of Robert cutting up his meat, Kevin getting him started with the grinding and the final grinding.  The last is a short video of Robert discussing the virtues of grass fed beef, while he focuses on keeping his hand out of the grinder.

(Addendum - FYI, Dr. Bob preceded his work with raw meat with a thorough hand washing, following strict BT procedure regarding the false security that latex gloves provide.)

See you Sunday at the Burger-off!

  1. Barbara....sometimes we miss what is so obvious. Robert should apply for the vacancy in the kitchen....he looks like a natural. Shari
