Stuff

I finally got all caught up on my monthly paperwork yesterday, so of course I figured this would be a good day to upgrade the WebPage somewhat. I want to put either a GuestBook or a Survey page in; I got out my textbooks and spent two hours trying to do this. I was a little distracted when Joy came in with her 11 week old puppy (Peke-ahua) named Homer...but mostly I just didn't make much headway. I'll keep trying though, even if it means putting off the taxes one more day (sorry Randy, I promise I'll have them in on Monday!!)

The oyster fritter count is up to 923. We've decided that whoever gets the 1000th should get it for free...I figure that that should happen in the next week or ten days or so.

I am having my first staff meeting this Saturday, since our original weeks (months?) of meetings last spring before we opened. I don't really like meetings - especially meetings that drag on forever because who ever is running it lets everyone put in their two cents, even when the points have already been made - but sometimes they serve a purpose. This Dining Room Crew is turning into a very good one: they are starting to really work as a team, they know what to do without constant direction, they are polite and well-spoken with the guests. Mostly it's just a matter of fine tuning and getting some of the details down pat. When I have a meeting planned, I start making notes about the things I want to discuss long ahead of time. Little things that seem to be a problem - like putting the brewed coffee into the airpot or checking the placemats for spots when setting up the dining room - need to be reinforced to the whole crew at one time. Big things like retrieving the credit card slips or knowing the menu and specials need to be reiterated as the important issues they are. Plus we are hiring new servers and any of them that can come to this meeting, better for all. Anyone who has any thing you want us to discuss, let me know and we'll put it on the agenda!

I hope to get some food pictures posted soon - we've got some great new menu items that look so delicious. It's on my list, but maybe I better do the taxes first...
