BT Goes Out to Lunch

We traveled to the Kent Narrows on Sunday with a group of 5 young women from our Dining Room Crew to lunch at Harris' Restaurant.  We had 14 sign up for the adventure, but finally sat down with 7, when it became apparent that no one else was going to show.  The busy restaurant only takes reservations for 20 (!) or more, and maintains the policy of not seating incomplete parties, so we cooled our heels on a bench by the host stand while we waited to see if anyone else was going to make it.  The host was quick to tell us that no one could join us after we got seated too, so we didn't sit down until long after 1PM, just in case some stragglers arrived.   Good we didn't wait for Brittany and Cherrelle, who were at the wrong restaurant, waiting for us!  Anyway, while the food was pretty mediocre, the company was great and a good time was had by all.  Here's the play-by-play.

The entrance to Harris Crab House.

Kara and Mallory, with Kevin's elbow.

On the other side of the table we have Rhianna, Ashley and Nicole.

Here's the group pre-food.

And here we are in the middle of our crab appetizer.  Two dozen large ran $58.  And the last three were black inside - what's that all about?  They were graciously replaced.

And again.

Lunch arrives.  Here's Mallory's stuffed rockfish.

Kara went with the buffalo shrimp.

Nicole - on her phone, as usual - ordered the stuffed flounder.  At least she included a real vegetable as one of her sides.  Not that she ate any of it...

Ashley had a salad with a side of fried sea scallops.  Yes, those are actually scallops.

Rhianna and I stuck with crabs, although she did add an ear of corn.  I added a salad.

Of course everyone had dessert.  Ashley tried to cut her very frozen Ice Cream sandwich in half...
She finally gives up and just goes for it.

Rhianna worked on their famous Nutty Buddy.

Kara and Mallory shared one of those too, plus some key lime pie.

For his meal, Kevin got an empty plate and scavenged off of whatever the girls would give him.  Which was plenty, since there was no way they were going to eat all of that food.  They even shared their desserts.

Despite the food, we really did have a good time.
Next outing, some place with good food would be nice.  Our server at Harris's was very nice - Kelly - and she put up with some tough customers at our table with grace and patience.  We just wish the food had been a little bit more "worth it".  We were even a little disappointed in the crabs, which were not seasoned well at all.  They had seasoning on the shells, but none of it had reached the meat inside.  Next time when we want crabs,  we'll go where Cherrelle and Brittany were waiting for us - Fisherman's Crab Deck!
